Ann-Marie - Module 2

Keeping up with the homework was kinda challenging because there’s already so many other things to do. I tried to keep one of those sheets in my pocket at work so I’d remember and do it between patients. I also left a few by my bedside in case, by the end of the day, I still hadn’t done one. Finding the examples wasn’t hard, but finding the time to do them was difficult.
Trigger – Seeing news article about measles in Canada
Emotion – Worry, anxious
Physical – Shoulder tension, bit of a headache
Thoughts – My kids are going to get measles and get really sick, I’ll have to take vacation days to care for them because I won’t want anyone else to get sick, then I won’t have as many left to go anywhere fun
Behaviour – Worry a lot more, buy more hand sanitizer with plan to use on everything that kids come in contact with, make up reasons why we can’t go to the park
Consequences – Short term – I was distracted and poked a client while I was working on their teeth, so they jumped in the chair and said, “Ow!”
Trigger – Ken taking the kids to the park so I could “relax” at home
Emotion – Anxious, sad, guilty
Thoughts – I hope they’re OK,
I hope he’s watching them closely enough (he generally chats with another parent, so I’m skeptical), why don’t the kids get that excited when I take them to the park? I bet Jacob took his hat off and Amanda probably doesn’t have her jacket done up – I really hope they don’t catch a cold
Physical – Headache, tense
Behaviour – Message Ken a few times while they’re out,
Try to read a magazine but really only flip through the pages
Consequence – Angry with myself for wasting “me” time on worry
