Midway Check-In

Before introducing the next module, since this is the half-way point of the protocol, now is a good time to look back at those goals you set for yourself at the beginning. Do they still apply? Are there new ones you’d like to add?

How is your motivation? Are you doing the homework exercises regularly? If you are, that’s great! Keep up the good work! If not, what’s getting in the way? Is there a regular time each day that you can carve out 10 minutes to do an exercise, either first thing in the morning, at lunch time, or just before bed? Are you feeling as though you’re not getting better fast enough?

Unfortunately changing the way you do things and seeing improvement is hard work and can take a while. Chances are you didn’t develop these problems overnight, so it’ll take more than a few weeks to change them. Perhaps revisit your goals and see if there are some that might seem more doable or more exciting to accomplish than your current ones. You might also want to review your list of pros and cons for changing your behaviour that you completed in the first module to remind yourself why you wanted to do this hard work in the first place. Finally, you might want to talk to your study psychologist about what might be getting in the way for you right now and together you can develop some strategies to get back on track.
