Module 8 - Understanding and Confronting Physical Sensations

Rating the Exercises

After each exercise, use the Symptom Induction Form to rate yourself on the following items:

  1. Symptoms experienced
  2. Intensity or how strongly you experienced the sensations (Scale of 0-10, where 0 = not at all; 10 = very strongly)
  3. Distress experienced (Scale of 0-10, where 0 = none and 10 = a significant amount)
  4. Similarity of sensations to those experienced when you’re feeling a strong emotion (Scale of 0-10, where 0 = not similar at all and 10 = exactly or almost the same)

You should continue to do these exercises daily until your distress level reliably stays at a score of 2 or less.

Even if you aren’t particularly distressed by the physical sensations of your emotions, it’s still a good idea to do these exercises to increase your awareness of this part of the emotional response.
