The focus of this section was on the physical sensations that might be contributing to your overall distress and cycle of emotional reactions and responses. By intentionally bringing on the sensations, hopefully you will have learned that there is nothing about them to fear and that they can go away all on their own without your having to do anything to make them stop.
Your homework is to try the exercises and see which, if any of them, bring on symptoms that resemble the physical sensations you experience when you have a strong emotional reaction. Rate your physical reactions to the exercises on the Symptom Induction Form. Just a note, no one enjoys the physical sensations that these exercises bring on, but they are very valuable in helping you learn that you can be uncomfortable (e.g. sweaty, lightheaded) but not distressed.
